Weekend Fun Part II

The weather was absolutely gorgeous last Saturday…but Sunday…not so much. It rained for most of the day and both Mia and I were going a bit stir crazy. When the rain finally let up around 5 o’clock, we jumped at the opportunity to go outside and play in the puddles! Once again, Mia had an absolute blast and was able to burn off some much needed energy.

Weekend Fun

We had our Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt and BBQ over the weekend and saying that Mia had an absolute blast is an understatement. The Egg Hunt isn’t really a “hunt” per se because the eggs are laid out on the field in clear view, but regardless, the kids love it.

Here is our cutie patootie ready to go hunting…

Let the Hunt begin…

Her bunny purse is getting quite full at this point…

Our dare devil child came out in full force at the BBQ where Mia went down the inflatable water slide about 100 times.  Seriously, that is no exaggeration.  I ended up plopping a chair right in front of the slide and sat my preggo booty there for a good hour or so.  She was by far the youngest kiddo going down the slide and had an absolute ball as you can see from these pictures...

This was the face I saw everytime she popped up from the bottom of the slide...

This was the face I got when I told her it was time to go home.  Such a little stinker!

22 Week Belly Picture

I caved and finally took a belly picture at 22 weeks.

Yes, I'm aware that I look much farther along than 22 wks.  Yes, we're sure there's only one baby in there.  I'm short and there's only room for my belly to go out.  So there.

Rick was finally able to feel the baby kick last night.  It was so exciting!  Every time we tried in the past, the baby would either stop kicking or it just wasn't strong enough for Rick to feel it.  But last night he gave me a nice ol' karate kick to the gut and Rick was definitely able to feel it.  Now I can't wait for Mia to feel him kick...hopefully soon!

Fabulous Weekend!

My dear friend, Lori was turning the big 4-0 and lots of plans had been made for the weekend. The girls had planned a spa day for Saturday morning while the guys had planned to play golf. Then later on in the evening we would head to Lori’s 40th birthday bash that started at 6:00 p.m. We had asked my parents to come up for the weekend since both Rick and I would be gone for most of the day and night on Saturday. Of course, my parents jumped at the opportunity to spend quality time with little miss Mia.

My parents arrived on Thursday evening so my mum and I had planned to spend the day together on Friday while Mia was in pre-school. We shopped, had a delicious lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and then shopped some more. ;) All in all, it was a great day! We did the most damage at Pottery Barn Kids where my mum purchased some things for Mia’s big girl room – some pretty pink, soft sheets to match her bedding and these adorable daisy wall decals:

After lunch, we then headed to the factory outlets and did some more damage for baby boy Kiefer at Carter’s. My mum picked out this adorable outfit and it’s definitely Rick’s favorite…

On to Saturday...our girl’s spa day started out with massages at 10:00 a.m. It was my first ever prenatal massage and all I can say is “WOW”. It was heavenly and I didn’t want it to ever end. Then we all met up at the pool for some fun in the sun and lunch. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect – it was warm, breezy and sunny – I finally remembered what it felt like to live in Florida again!

After the spa/golf day we all met back up at Timpano Restaurant for Lori’s 40th birthday bash. Her husband, Donny did a fabulous job of putting this shin-dig together. We had a private room that led into an outside patio. The food was delicious and of course the company was great. I was bad and didn’t take many pictures but I thought this one turned out really cute with Rick and all the girls.

So like I mentioned before, it turned out to be a fabulous weekend. Thanks again to my wonderful mum and dad for everything!

Mia's Big Girl Room

I am really psyched to start working on Mia’s Big Girl Room. We’ll be using her current room as the new nursery and she’ll be moving into the (much larger) guest bedroom. We’re thinking about moving her over around May but will have to start redecorating now since we have lots to do. We have to paint, sell the queen size bed, clean out the closet and all the “stuff” that we’ve accumulated over the years in the zillion drawers we have in this armoire...

I doubt you counted but there are a total of 18 drawers on that bad boy. And there’s stuff/junk/crap in every single one of them. Talk about a not-so-fun project.

Moving on to fun projects…we’ve already ordered her new twin bed and bought her new bedding at Pottery Barn Kids – both on special sale I might add. ; ) Check them out!

I absolutely love the Daisy Garden bedding and can’t wait to decorate and accessorize with this theme. I’ll be sure to post the progress of her new room...and the nursery of course...but that’s a whole other project that we’ll get started on once Mia’s big girl room is done.  : )

My sweet little girl

Last night Mia did something so sweet that I just had to share.  While we were playing in her room she had found some smiley face stickers and wanted Rick and I to have some.  She strategically put a sticker on each of our hands and feet.  Then out of the blue, she places a sticker on my belly and says, "that's for my baby brother".  Oh my gosh - my heart melted and I turned to mush.  I know my hormones are are all over the place but seriously, how sweet is that????

First Shopping Spree!

Okay, so maybe it wasn't really a shopping spree because I don't have that kind of money to spend right now, but I did make my first few purchases for baby boy Kiefer.  : )  I was out running errands and found myself in Gymboree...which happens to be my favorite kid's clothing store (very dangerous, I know!).  The temptation was too much - everything seemed to be on sale and I remembered I had a merchandise credit in my wallet.  Then the sales lady announced to me that I would get an additional 20% off for my "new mommy" purchase.  I was sold!!!  I admit that it was so nice to be shopping on the other side of the store for once.  I was also thrilled to find two lines with puppy themes.  Our dogs, Marley & Bindy, were our babies for 6 years before we had Mia.  Although girl clothes are definitely cuter, I remember being so disappointed that only boy clothing seemed to be puppy themed.  But now I can finally buy those puppy themed clothes - yay!  I was so excited to show Rick my new purchases when I got home and we both agreed that this was our favorite outfit.

IT'S A BOY!!!

So most of you already know this but I still wanted to post about the day we found out we were having a baby boy. It came as a HUGE surprise as we both were convinced we were having another girl. In fact, even Mia thought she was getting a little sister out of the deal and announced it to her teachers and friends at school a while ago.

Our appointment was at 11:00 am on Monday. I had gone to the bathroom for the 10th time that morning while the ultrasound tech asked Rick if we wanted to find out the sex. He told her yes and that we were pretty confident we were having another girl since this pregnancy has been a carbon copy of my pregnancy with Mia. She was so sweet and said she would get to determining the gender right away and not keep us in suspense any longer. She started the ultrasound and although I had no clue what I was looking at, it seemed the tech knew right away. She pointed to something on the screen and asked us if we knew what it was. I didn't see the three distinct "girl" lines but was still convinced that I was looking at girl parts. Then she announced that it was in fact a penis. I didn't believe her! Seriously, I didn't believe her...and she knew it. It wasn't the greatest view since he was lying on his side so she was determined to get a better shot. Finally he gave us the "spread eagle" view - and that's when I saw it...and "it" was definitely a boy part. OMG - it was true...I was having a baby boy!!! I cried and saw Rick's eye's well up with tears. It was such an amazing feeling. We've been blessed with a beautiful daughter and will now welcome a son. So in the end I was wrong and couldn't be more happier about it!

Jumping on The Blog Bandwagon

I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while now and finally stopped procrastinating. I can't think of a better time to start documenting our memories now that we're soon going to be a family of four! I hope you enjoy our updates and feel a little more connected to our family because of it. :)
